On the brink of a sure fire “drag me out of bed, coffee couldn’t help” Saturday Morning…it happened. I found myself in a new found brunch heaven better known as Del Friscos Grille on McKinney Ave.
After stumbling in with a plea for help and greasy good brunch, our waitress answered with an unforgettable midday meal. For starters the mimosas were fresh, tasty and at $8 for a carafe…well you just can’t beat it. The restaurant was abuzz with just about every brunch mecca bound Dallasite possible. After mere sips of our adult orange juice, we were greeted with a stack of ‘Sweet Potato Frites’ served with a trio of sauces (Ketchup, Homemade Ranch and an avocado green goddess dipping sauce fitting of its etherial name). Savory, crispy, sweet.
Next we came about deciding on just what main fit our fancy. With a bit of guidance from our perky, attentive waitress we finally resolved to try 2 our her favorites. The Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs with Jumbo Biscuit and Chorizo Gravy (drool) and the Red Velvet Belgian Waffle with Whipped Vanilla Bean-Spiked Cream Cheese, Thick-Cut Hickory-Smoked Bacon (double drool). Both items were UNREAL. The Chicken Fried Steak was smothered in the tastiest gravy and the biscuit was light. The waffle? oh, the waffle. Who dares mix my favorite Red Velvet flavor into one of the flakiest savory and sweet breakfast staples ever, Del Frisco’s Grille and I.aint.mad. Served alongside our mains were the creamiest Gristmill Grits with Cajun Lobster Gravy and Jalapeño Bacon Mac & Cheese worth every bite and caloric dive.
You’d think after all that we’d be rolling and bubbly from the mimosas. Oh no. No one can visit this place without having the Coconut Cream pie. As I’ve written in my previous reviews…this pie is decadent, subtly sweet and out of this world.
Make your way over to your new favorite brunch spot, Del Frisco’s Grille and tell em I sent ya. You won’t regret it.
