It’s that time of year again, when I skip town and head out of town on a Carnival Cruise. My husband and I go on one every year. This year we decided to take a cruise out of Miami. While on the plane heading to Florida, I was speaking with the man sitting next to me and he mentioned that he has been trying to convince his wife for years to take a cruise. He really wanted to take one but his wife doesn’t feel the same way. I ended up giving him a huge list of reasons to tell his wife that they should take a cruise.
He said he was going to talk to his wife and that he was sure he would be able to convince her. Not only did he want to take to take his wife on a fun vacation but wanted to make memories with their children. Since I know there are people in the same situation as him (or might even be the person who is skeptical about cruises), I wanted to share all the reasons that I love cruises and why you will too!Unplug from the world. You can always purchase a wifi package while on the cruise ship but unless you have work obligations, I say skip out. Since I work behind a computer all day, every day – a cruise is a nice change of pace.
Eat all the food. It is no joke when they say you can eat any and everything on a cruise. Not going to lie, it’s one of my favorite parts. No matter what type of food you enjoy, you will be able to find it on the cruise ship. Experience the World. Sure you can experience the world other ways, but why pay to sit in one location for 5 days when you can get a cruise ship and go to many different cities and countries in one trip. I try to schedule my cruises to venture to places I’ve never been for.
No adulting needed. The beautiful thing about a cruise is that you don’t have to make all the adult decisions that you would usually make during a regular work week. Instead of worrying about laundry, meals, picking up the kids – you’re lounging next to the pool, enjoying a comedy show, or sipping on an adult beverage in a casino.
Never a boring moment. If you’re bored on a cruise ship, then you need to open your eyes. Literally there are hundreds of events that take place on a cruise ship daily. No matter what you enjoy, you can find something to do whether it be putt putt or watching live bands play.
Room Service 24/7. Staying in hotels is one of my favorite things, because I don’t have to make the bed, worry about cleaning and room service is amazing. On a Carnival cruise, you get room service 24/7 – no joke. Let’s say you wake up in the middle of the night and you’re starving, give room service a call and food will be delivered to you in no time free of charge!
Relaxing is easy on cruises. When we take vacations that aren’t on a cruise, we always seem to be rushing around and trying to stick to a schedule. It’s a bit exhausting trying to keep up with a schedule. I’m completely type b so schedules just aren’t my thing. When on a cruise, we can do what we want, eat what we want and relax while doing it all.
Amazing views that never end. No matter if you’re pulling up to an island or cruising through the middle of the ocean, the view is always mesmerizing. Two of my favorite views on the cruise is sunrise and sunset. They are literally breathtaking (as cliche as that sounds). If you’ve seen the views, you know what I mean. Stay in shape. Whether you want to go crazy in a workout class or leisurely walk on the treadmill, you can do it all. There is no reason you can’t get your workout on. I personally love the track located at the top of the ship. It’s usually not crowded and you get great views of the ocean!
Towel Animals. Yall, they never get old. Every single time that I go into my state room and see that a new towel animal has been left for us, I get giddy. It’s so much fun and I am always amazed at how real the animals look. (Bonus: Carnival has towel animal making classes on some of their cruises!)Soak in such much needed vitamin D. I do not get out in the sun often enough. We even have a pool at my house and I can’t tell you when the last time I’ve been in it (I’m guessing 3 years). If you’re unsure of the many benefits that vitamin D give you, read this.
Don’t just eat, but eat healthy. Gluten-free? Vegan? Low-carb diet? Cruise ship chefs are happy to accommodate. Additionally, cruise ships offer buffets filled with fresh fruits, vegetables and lean proteins to help you build a better plate.
No matter what your demographic, no problem! Cruises are melting pots full of people of every age, race, gender and demographic. Carnival cruise lines are great at catering to everybody and making every body feel welcome.
Carnival Cruises are very reasonably priced. I know the first time we thought about taking a 7 day cruise, I thought I was going to have to hand over my whole life savings. I quickly realized that the cruise was actually not expensive at all. It’s much cheaper than most land-based vacations, especially when you consider that all of the food, lodging and entertainment is included.
Cruises are safe. If you look at the raw numbers you will see it is more dangerous to drive on the highway or fly on an airplane than to cruise on a ship. Reality is that there will be issues that arise because we don’t live in a perfect world. The chance that you are on a cruise ship when there are any types of crazy waves or any major issues is very rare. Terrified of being sea sick? No problem. This is one reason many people don’t ever get on a cruise ship. I completely understand the thought of being stuck on a boat while being sick sounds like a horrible vacation. Cruise ships are so huge you barely feel you are at sea at all most of the time. It’s crazy because many times, I forget that I’m even on a cruise ship since it’s so smooth.
Love to laugh? Catch a comedy show. My husband and I go to the comedy shows as much as possible while on the cruise ship. Carnival has the only comedy clubs at sea where the comedians are hand picked by George Lopez. The comedy clubs are one of the most popular activities on board so you will want to get there early to get a good seat. Multiple comedians are on board so you never have to watch the same one twice, unless you want to!
I’ll add to the list as more and more awesome reasons to cruise come to mind. Have you cruised before? If you haven’t, what is stopping you?
