Participate in the Walk for Wishes 5k and Fun Walk

Blog· Charity· Entertainment· Events

walk for wishesMake a difference and fulfill the wishes of North Texas children. How? Walk for Wishes! The Make-A-Wish® North Texas Walk for Wishes is a 5k and Fun Walk where participants, wish kids and volunteers take big strides to make more wishes come true. Every dollar raised from this fun-filled event will go to fulfilling the wishes of North Texas children. Participants are invited to walk and enjoy event day festivities while meeting courageous wish children who had their heartfelt wish granted. The fun continues before and after the walk where there will be a myriad of family-friendly activities, live music, delicious food, and the Celanese sponsored Kid’s Zone powered by GameStop!

So how can the Dallas community be a part of Walk for Wishes and grant the wishes of children with life-threatening conditions? It’s easy!

Go online to www.walkforwishesdfw.org. Register as an individual or with a team made up of your friends, family, colleaguesWalk for Wishes or organization members. Prizes are given to the top fundraising groups as well as individuals. Even if you are unable to attend the event, you can still fundraise online by signing up as a Virtual Participant.

The sole purpose of Make-A-Wish® is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  They want to provide children with the hope for better times, the strength for the tough times and the joy to experience the present. With your support, at events such as Walk for Wishes, they are able to fulfill their mission and make wishes come true. Granted wishes can be as practical as a new computer, as creative as conducting an orchestra or as memorable as attending the Olympic Games in London! What’s also amazing is that 97% of wish families say that the experience of their child receiving a wish gave them the opportunity to be a “normal” family again. Nothing seems normal when you have a child with a life-threatening condition but Make-A-Wish® does everything they can to make every wish kid’s experience as magical as possible starting at the very moment they are approved for the wish.

In 2012, Make-A-Wish North Texas granted 505 wishes for children battling life-threatening medical conditions. Because of the support of our volunteers, sponsors and fundraising events, that milestone was possible! 2013 Walk for Wishes (formally known as Race for Wishes) is Saturday,  April 6, at Williams Square: 5215 North O’Connor Blvd., Irving, TX 75039.
