Wednesday, April 9th was the official Grand Opening for the Belk flagship store at Galleria Dallas.
Based in North Carolina, Belk is the largest family owned and operated department store brand, with 300 locations throughout the South, including 14 in Texas. While Belk has several other DFW locations including McKinney, Rockwall, Flower Mound, and Fort Worth, the Galleria Dallas store is the first flagship in the state.
With a strong commitment to making a difference in the communities they serve, Belk celebrated its grand opening by donating $125,000 to five organizations supporting the Dallas community. The recipient organizations were Junior League of Collin County, Junior League of Dallas, Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, and YWCA Dallas.
Belk hosted a breakfast preceding the ribbon cutting event. Belk President and COO John R. Belk also spoke during the breakfast about the grand opening in addition to Belk’s community initiatives.
At 9:30am, the ribbon cutting ceremony began with an introduction from Jim Rose, Regional Vice President, followed by check presentations to the organizations and a performance from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
After the ribbon was cut, blue celebratory streamers fell over the crowd. Guests filed into the new flagship store and were greeted with gift cards and refreshments. Those who missed the grand opening can still partake in the celebratory events throughout the weekend.
