The City of Dallas nailed it on the head when they launched their Dallas Big campaign and proclaimed, “Big Things Happen Here.” Every year, the events get better and better. As you know, Restaurant Week is almost here. It’s a big favorite in our city, it’s a time that you can eat at restaurants that you don’t usually dine at for a fraction of the cost.
Restaurant Week gives you the opportunity to dine at over 130 participating restaurants throughout North Texas. Discover fabulous three-course dinner and lunch menus at a special set price of either $35 or $45 per dinner (based on restaurant) and give back to charity, all in one seating. This was the first year that Restaurant Week had a kick off party to get the month full of fine dining off to a great start. I attended not knowing what to expect. I knew that there would be food tastings and some vendors but that can either go either really good or bad.
I arrived at the kick off party held in Fair Park and my jaw dropped. You could feel the energy walking into the venue. The lights were dim, aerial dancers were hanging from the ceiling and the music was playing loud – my kind of party! We ventured to the different food stations. Some of the lines were long but all of the food we tasted was delicious. There were plenty of drink vendors offering different samples of liquor and Lakewood Brewing topped the event handing out full bottles of their different beers.
The party exceeded my expectations, there were a few hiccups but considering it was the first year I’m impressed. I hope Restaurant Week continues this tradition. Will you be participating in Restaurant Week? Which restaurants will you be trying?
