About a year ago, I started noticing an abundance of articles online about becoming “toxic-free” to “eliminate chemicals” from my home. This was completely foreign to me because I just bought what ever I wanted and never thought twice about how it was impacting my or my family’s life. After digging around and doing more research, I made the decision to start making more conscience decisions about what I was buying and how it was impacting my health.
I am not completely toxic and chemical free and I love a bunch of food that I probably shouldn’t be putting into my body but I have slowly started changing my lifestyle to a more healthy one. Making my own products has quickly become one of my favorite things to do. One thing that I’ve been wanting to make was homemade shaving cream and I loved the way it turned out so I had to share the recipe!
DIY Shaving Cream Recipe Using Non-Toxic Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup castile soap
- 1/4 cup cocoa butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup sweet almond oil
- 5 drops essential oils of choice (I chose lavender – you can add more or less depending on how strong you want your shaving cream to smell)
- 1/4 cup raw honey
- 3/4 cups warm water
- 16 oz foam container
Directions:
Take a sauce pan and fill half with water. In that sauce pan, put a glass measuring up with the cocoa butter inside (you’re making a double broiler). Once the cocoa butter starts melting add the soap, honey and sweet almond oil. Add the essential oils after you take the ingredients off of the stove. Pour your mixture into the foam container and add water to fill. Now shake, shake, shake til all ingredients are well combined. Give your container a pump and you should have homemade shaving cream! Your skin will thank you later.
If you don’t have those ingredients handy, they are all very accessible through Amazon. Even though I like to make many of my own products, there are a few that I don’t skimp out on – razors are one of them. I started buying my husband Schick® Hydro for a couple reasons. He has to shave often since his facial hair grows so fast. Since he is shaving multiple times a week, we have been on the hunt for a great razor that can keep up with the demands of his needs.
We found that the Schick® Hydro was best because it’s a dermatologist-tested razor system that handles great with sensitive skin, and it has an exclusive technology that hydrates throughout each shave. The Schick Hydro® 5 Sensitive Razor features five Ultra Glide® blades and patented skin guards that help protect sensitive skin.

What a great idea. And of course non-toxic is the only way to go! I may make this for my hubby who uses a manual shaver.

That’s so neat! It really does look like real shaving cream. I’ll have to try this sometime.

What a creative natural alternative to regular, chemical-filled shaving cream. It looks like this would work just as well as the “real thing!”

Non-toxic shaving cream is very good for men and women also. From now I want to use this shaving cream always. Thanks for this issue.
